I was recently walking early one morning in the tranquillity of the beautiful hill The Lawley and was struck by the spring beauty of the trees…
In these days
We still have trees

Whose beauty raises
All who see

Words and Thoughts, for Life
I was recently walking early one morning in the tranquillity of the beautiful hill The Lawley and was struck by the spring beauty of the trees…
In these days
We still have trees

Whose beauty raises

Wroxeter is a beautiful place.
There are the remains of the Roman city, of course, so picturesquely situated within sight of the Wrekin, the Lawley and Caer Caradoc.

There is the beautiful village, with the church partly built using stone from the Roman city, and also from Haughmond Abbey.

When I visited recently a robin perched in the February sunshine for me as I wandered in the peace of the early morning…
~
A robin sang
from the branches of a winter tree
~
His belly was as bright as the day
his breast red as the sunset
~
Gracing my winter spirit
with tones of happiness.

“National Robin Day is an annual nationwide event raising awareness of small birds and other wildlife in winter and how we can help them through this tough time of year...The cold winter months are especially tough for animals; as temperatures drop and food becomes scarce, wildlife such as garden birds need a little extra help.” Visit https://www.nationalrobinday.co.uk/ to find out more!

The shape
Of each tree
~
Fascinates
Me
~
As they adorn
The skyline
~
Glorifyingly.

~
The trees
Teach me
~
Of the endlessness
Of new life
~
Dividing
And multiplying
~
Again
And again
~
Our thoughts
And actions
~
Branching
From sick
~
Or healthy
Roots
~
Budding
And blooming
~
Until
When?

Experience is forever new – but it’s also forever connected with what’s gone before. This was inspired by that thought and by an encounter (at a safe distance!) with a tree…
~
Experience confronts me
With absolute newness
~
I had never seen
That tree in that way before
~
And now that moment
Is a door
~
To a future
That is life
~
As yet unseen
So different
~
Yet so connected
With all that I have been.
~

There is a blessing
In this gentle breeze
~
As I walk amongst the grasses
And the trees
~
And the sun that warms
And the light that dawns
~
And the soul
Inwardly sees.

It’s nearly December, yet the cherry tree nearby is in full blossom. Shrewsbury is a beautiful place anyway, but this unseasonal touch of beauty, has helped add some cheer to gloomy November days, and remind me of the good in life.
~
Outside my window
The blossoming
~
Of the cherry tree
In bleak November
~
As if there was
No pandemic of grief
~
As if life blossomed
Happily.
